San Antonio Spurs

San Antonio Spurs are a basketball team in the National Basketball Association based in San Antonio, Texas. They have won the NBA championship 4 times, in 1999, 2003, 2005 and 2007.

History
They originally named Dallas Chaparrals in the American Basketball Association (ABA) in 1967. Later renamed the Texas Chaparrals in the season 1970-1971. In 1973 they were bought by a group of businessmen from San Antonio which consists of 36 people, led by Angelo Drossos and Red McCombs and was named the San Antonio Spurs.
This team started to become one of the stronger teams in the Western Region as at the time of George Gervin, precisely in the year 1976-1985. They became a team into the playoffs and subscriptions often to win the division, but never advanced to the NBA Finals after losing to teams like the Washington Bullets, Boston Celtics, Houston Rockets, Los Angeles Lakers. After the death of Gervin, the Spurs entered the tough times and the Spurs had threatened to move the city because of the number of viewers dropped dramatically calculated from 1985. Spurs began to rediscover the glory in the presence of David Robinson at Spurs. Spurs come back often to the playoffs and win the division, but Spurs could not feel the NBA Finals.
The entry of Tim Duncan to San Antonio Spurs truly a blessing. Along with David Robinson, they form the "twin towers" are feared in the NBA. This duo managed to bring the Spurs won the NBA for the first time in 1999. This duet, plus Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili, the Spurs won the NBA back in 2003. After the final, Robinson retired from the NBA. Still, the Spurs can still win the NBA twice, namely in 2005, 2007). With frequent Spurs won the NBA, many people think they have established a new dynasty in the NBA.
